Okay, since it's a new year, I'm going to update the prospect list. With a little more information and a little better understanding of prospects and minor league baseball, I will indeed try to rank prospects in the Giants system similar to what you see from most publications and sites. Is that Gospel? No, of course, not. I'm a teacher by day who is a baseball (and football) enthusiast by well...day and night. However, I do like "rankings" because I think it stirs good debate amongst baseball communities, especially Giants and Sabermetrics ones.
So here's the Top 30 for 2012. Links on player names will take you to the actual profiles as they are written. Hope it stirs some debate!
(Note: List was updated on Feb. 29th, since Angel Villalona's visa has been delayed. With the possibility of him starting late or perhaps getting delayed another year, I had to take him off this list. I added Chris Marlowe and Roger Kieschnick in place at No. 30.)
